"Montoya Mambo"
RealAudio This song was written for my first playing engagement with the band in Wilmington, Delaware. The name Montoya was given to me in Aruba and being that the song has such a dance feel to it, I decided on Montoya Mambo. |
"There Goes Another One"
RealAudio "There Goes Another One" MP3 |
Written for all the beautiful women walking around NYC. I envision a video of a man walking around the streets of NYC and being bombarded by the all kinds of attractive ladies walking by him and he helplessly looks and says to himself "There goes another one". |
| An anthem for the people of the world who say yes and give of themselves in whatever they do in life. | |
| This was written and dedicated to one of my best friends Rudy Romero, who has recently passed away. Rudy was a Yaqui Indian and this song is in honor of his heritage and his infectious personality and playing style. | |

"Not Your Typical New Yorker"
RealAudio Not Your Typical New Yorker really has the feel and pulse of New York City. As I walk around the city listening to the song, the energy of the city and the music go hand in hand. The tune opens with a bang and settles in to a nice groove, but still has that undercurrent of intensity. This was the first tune that I wrote for the CD so I decided to name the CD after it. |
"A Little Past Midnight"
RealAudio |
This song was written on New Year's Eve. It is a bit melancholy, but not sad, a bit introspective I might add. It did not take very long to write, I think I finished it in two hours. |
| Montoya is my Spanish nickname. Back in 1984 I lived and worked in Aruba. I played in an all Argentinian band and they named me Montoya. I wrote this song back then but updated it this year with new sections. I think the intro, courtesy of Leo Traversa, is great, but unfortunately I didn't include this part of the tune in the clip. I guess you'll need to purchase the CD to hear it. | |

"Florence" RealAudio
|
Florence is dedicated to the people of Florence, Alabama. Every year in August I go down to Alabama to play in the W.C. Handy Jazz Festival. It is a small festival so there is a lot of interaction with the people. I've made a lot of good friends in the years I have been going to the festival. I feel that the song captures the tranquility and peacefulness that I feel when I am there. |
"Seventh Heaven" in RealAudio only |
Seventh Heaven is a special bonus song. It is not on a CD. It's all done with a sequencer. It was written a few years back. |
Another great CD from Basileus Music is Big Wing
